More than 250 protestors demonstrated outside Barnet Town Hall last night against plans for a waste-processing center to be built in Alexandra.

They were trying to disrupt the full council meeting where the majority of councillors voted in favour of the proposed site at Pinkham Way.

The decision was made gone 10pm, after requests from the public to move the item up the agenda were voted against.

At the start of the meeting at 7pm approximately 100 people were inside the town hall and more outside.

By the time the decision was made roughly 30 remained waiting for the result in the public gallery.

The plans will now go to Haringey Council, the planning authority.
