The Mayor of London has presented a special award to a group in Alexandra.

Boris Johnson has handed the Friends of Albert Road Recreation Ground (FARRG) a Gold Award for Safety.

It’s been given to the team for the way the park has been transformed from a crime hot spot to a green beacon in the neighbourhood.

Albert Road Recreation Ground was the only park in Haringey to win a gold award and one of 12 in the whole of London.

Peter Droussiotis, Chair of FARRG, collected the award at the ceremony at City Hall on the 13th May and said:

“We are delighted that our efforts to transform Albert Road Recreation Ground into a safe community hub and a first class recreational facility have been recognised with the gold award for safety from the Mayor of London. Our partnership with Robby Sukhdeo and Pavilion Tennis, Haringey Council, local schools and the police has been a remarkable example of what can be achieved when communities pull together and work for the common good.”
