A park in Alexandra has won a prize for tackling anti-social behaviour and crime.

Albert Road Recreation Ground has received a gold Mayor’s Safer Parks Award for 2011/12.

It’s been given for activities, events and work to make the park a safer place for the public.

Gianluca Loiacono, Treasurer of the Friends of Albert Road Recreation Ground (FARRG), is delighted by the news and is grateful to all who helped put the application together. He said: “Well done to all for our hard work! This is a great achievement. On that note, I’d like to thank Sarah Jones, Tony Healey and Robby for assisting and providing me with all the information needed.”

The award will be presented at a ceremony in April.
